In the first of our series of informative articles on how to make money online, we look at how to get some SEO for free or cheaply.

01. SEO ON THE CHEAP!

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the most important set up method of any website or blog for driving targeted traffic straight to it. That will enable you to increase your ability to make money online. By maximizing all of the benefits of a correctly optimised website or blog you will create a much better potential to make money online in greater amounts over time. However, optimizing your site can potentially cost you thousands of dollars if you're not skilled in this area.

To be honest, you can actually get plenty of SEO information either free or at a reasonably low cost anywhere in the Internet. But only a handful of these places really show you how to work out an affordable search engine optimization endeavour. And those few that really inform include this article. Here's some of the ways of SEO'ing your blog or site:

1. Link Exchanges

This relatively cheap SEO method will bring you the best results. Link exchanges are simply creating links between several other web sites and/or blogs. It depends on the websites that you exchange links with, but this strategy could even come for free. Simply contact the owner of a web site or blog that you want to make the exchange with and offer them the chance to have a link from your site/blog in return for them putting up a link to yours. You'll be surprised at the eventual increase in your page rank using this way of getting your website or blog optimised.

2. Include lots of keyword rich articles

By writing informative, interesting and keyword-rich articles you have an extremely effective way to make money online and increase the visibility of your internet business. Either write your own articles or acquire them from article directories that allow you to post them on your website so long as you keep the author's resource box or byline intact. Be aware however, that this is really a temporary or stop-gap measure, as the search engines like to see unique content on your site and may penalise you if you've got the same article there as a thousand other sites. Also, make sure you don't stuff your articles full of keywords that even idiots would get bored reading. The overall readability of your articles is important too as it will determine whether or not your readers will return often to your website or blog to read more.

3. Relevant Domain Name

Having an easy to remember domain name will ensure that you target your visitors more readily. Finding a good domain name is harder these days than it was, but it is still possible with a little forethought and imagination. Of course, it's not free to register your domain name, but it can be done cheaply enough. More importantly, creativity comes at a high price, but it's worth it.

4. Site Navigation Organisation

Making it easy to navigate your site is another certain way of making your visitors enjoy coming and staying to look around. The knock-on effect of this is that your traffic flow will increase as more visitors come and bookmark your site in order to return again later. Of course this will further increase your ability to make money from your site or blog and reap the benefits of your hard work.

SEO on a shoestring is increasingly possible as the internet continues to evolve and techniques become simpler and more effective. To make money online in this arena there are tons of different methods to gain the coveted top ten page ranking in Google or, for that matter any other search engine. Some can cost quite a lot but there are always abundant methods that can generate the same results for much less or even for free. Of course you could do your own SEO for free using the methods mentioned above.
